Dean Liu Fei has gone to Europe for three training sessions, helping to achieve new breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of intraocular tumors

DATE:2024-10-18   HITS:275

Germany has always been a world leader in the field of medical technology, with 16 Nobel Prize winners in medicine, especially in ophthalmology, and Germany's medical technology and management philosophy are the benchmark pursued by ophthalmologists around the world.

Since 2007, President Liu Fei of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital Affiliated to Jinan University has visited top medical institutions and scientific research institutes in Germany and Austria three times for study and study, and is committed to introducing international advanced medical technology and management concepts into Dongguan, achieving "rooting" and promoting the high-quality development of ophthalmic medical services.

Go abroad for training and break through the limitations of the diagnosis and treatment of "intraocular tumors"

At the end of September this year, Dean Liu Fei went to Essen University Hospital for a half-month study. Essen University Hospital Founded in 1909, Essen University Hospital is a comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, known for its excellent medical profession and century-old development history.

Especially in the field of ophthalmology, Gerd Meyer-Schwickerath, the father of retinal photocoagulation, is one of the pioneers of the hospital, and the world's first technology for retinal photocoagulation of the human eye was born here, and this technology is still the mainstream method of retinal reset.

In September this year, Dean Liu Fei went to Essen University Hospital for training

In this training, Dean Liu Fei studied under the former president of the German Ophthalmological Society, Professor Bechrakis NE, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all eye diseases, especially ocular tumors.

In 2015, Professor Bechrakis NE came to Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital for academic exchanges

Intraocular tumors are a disease that occurs frequently in the retina and uvea, which can damage vision and can even be life-threatening, so early diagnosis is crucial. However, eye tumors have always been a problem in the field of ophthalmology, and in recent years, Dongguan Aier has focused on exploring the treatment of orbital tumors and intraocular tumors, but there is still a certain gap compared with the European level.

The goal of Dean Liu's trip is clear, that is, to provide more possibilities for personalized treatment options for patients in Dongguan by learning from Germany's advanced experience in the treatment of intraocular tumors, including radiotherapy, laser, cryotherapy, immunotherapy, and the application of monoclonal antibodies. "Compared with the previous two studies, the treatment concept I came into contact with this time has been iteratively updated, and the technology applied to patients is more minimally invasive."

"This will be a long-term process of learning, clinical practice and research, and we will continue to do so that patients suffering from this eye disease can find better treatments." President Liu Fei said frankly that through international training, he not only improved his professional skills, but also brought an international vision and advanced medical concepts to Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital. The hospital will continue to focus on research in the field of intraocular tumors, strengthen international academic exchanges, and strive for excellence, in order to apply more advanced technical concepts to clinical practice and benefit more patients.

International vision and local practice to promote the high-quality development of ophthalmology

In recent years, domestic ophthalmology has developed rapidly, and at present, Dongguan's ophthalmic medical hardware conditions and technical level are no worse than those abroad, and international communication and exchanges are becoming more and more frequent.

The more you see, the more you know, the smarter. President Liu Fei believes that although Germany is not significantly different from us in terms of large-scale ophthalmic equipment, it is better in terms of standardized medical standardization process, sophisticated and complete supporting equipment and medical humanistic care, which is worth learning from.

In the process of training and learning, the rigorous and fine "craftsman spirit" of German doctors left a deep impression on President Liu Fei, and brought these more advanced concepts and what he saw and learned back to Dongguan, which helped to improve the clinical diagnosis and treatment standards and surgical operation procedures of the hospital, and at the same time paid attention to humanistic care, strengthened the rehabilitation management in all details of the perioperative period, and improved the level of medical services.

Talent, technology and innovation are the three driving forces for the high-quality development of hospitals. In recent years, Dongguan Aier has adhered to the synchronous development of medical education, research and management, introduced and trained a large number of high-quality medical talents, actively sent backbone doctors to carry out international academic exchanges, cultivated compound talents with international vision, and improved the hospital's scientific research and innovation capabilities.

Dean Liu Fei firmly believes that medical exploration is endless. As a doctor, only by continuing to study and constantly pursue progress can we keep up with the pace of the times and serve patients with more advanced technology. Since 2007, when he studied new technologies in the field of vitreoretina at the Charité Medical University in Berlin, Germany, Dean Liu Fei has been constantly pursuing progress.

In 2014, he went to Innsbruck Medical University in Austria to improve his retinal vitreous surgery technology, and after returning to China, he served as the president of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, taking on the important task of diagnosing and treating difficult eye diseases in Dongguan, successfully breaking the limitation of "seeing difficult eye diseases can only go to big cities".

President Liu Fei's international training trip is a microcosm of Dongguan Ophthalmology's high-quality development. Through continuous learning and introduction of international medical technology and management concepts, Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital is gradually improving its professional capabilities and service level to provide patients with higher quality medical services.
