DATE:2026-01-16   HITS:252

From January 8 to 10, 2026, the 2026 “Light of the Sea” Academic Conference on Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Visual Science, the 2026 Visual Science Technology and Equipment Exhibition, and the 14th “Myopia Care · Smile Forum” grandly commenced in Shanghai, China. Experts and scholars from around the world gathered to focus on eye health issues across the entire lifespan, striving to inject new momentum into the fields of ophthalmology, optometry, and visual science through multidimensional, in-depth discussions and exchanges.

The refractive team from Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital was invited to attend this prestigious event. Representing the hospital were Dr. Liu Fei, Regional Director of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, along with Dr. Chen Xiaobei, Director of the Refractive Department, and Dr. Yin Na, Deputy Director. The team actively participated in multiple core academic sessions. Leveraging their solid professional expertise and cutting-edge clinical insights, they made a strong academic statement on the national stage alongside elite ophthalmologists, showcasing the hospital's leading technological capabilities and outstanding industry influence in the field of refractive diagnostics and treatment.

Dongguan's Strong Voice

Leading Discussions on Cutting-Edge Technology and Clinical Practice

The robotic SMILE pro technology represents an upgrade to the classic SMILE technique. With its core highlights of “ultra-fast,” “intelligent,” and “greater safety,” it propels refractive surgery into a new era of intelligent advancement, leading the next generation of minimally invasive SMILE technology. To date, China has surpassed 40,000 SMILE pro procedures. Among these, Aier Eye Hospital Group has cumulatively performed 10,000 surgeries, earning the “Breakthrough Contribution Award for China's Ophthalmic Hospital Groups” through its leading advantage. This signifies that one in every four SMILE pro surgeries in China is conducted at Aier Eye Hospital.

As one of the first 60 hospitals nationwide to install the technology and the medical institution that successfully performed the nation's first and Dongguan's inaugural robotic SMILE pro procedure, the Dongguan Aier Refractive Team has accumulated solid and extensive clinical experience and profound insights in this field, forming a uniquely valuable practical knowledge system. These invaluable experiences, derived from frontline surgeries and long-term follow-ups, have also translated into the team's professional influence and academic leadership within the industry.

Consequently, during the conference's cutting-edge forums and workshops, Dongguan Aier's refractive team—represented by Director Liu Fei and Director Chen Xiaobei—actively participated and shared insights. They not only presented their unique observations and reflections on SMILE pro clinical applications but also demonstrated the team's profound academic foundation and professional expertise, underpinned by pioneering practices that drive industry advancement.

President Liu Fei Shares Valuable Insights

At the SMILE pro Symposium hosted by Aier Eye Hospital Group, President Liu Fei participated as a panelist in a roundtable discussion. Joined by leading experts in refractive surgery from across China, the session focused on the critical topic of “Regional Collaboration for Scaling Operations.” Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges regarding the latest clinical research findings, operational protocols, and quality control standards for this procedure.

During the symposium, Dr. Liu Fei analyzed the clinical advantages of SMILE pro technology, emphasizing its “ultra-fast,” “intelligent,” and ‘safer’ characteristics that deliver superior visual outcomes for patients. He also explored how regional collaboration and technology promotion can standardize the widespread adoption of this technique under the “Regional Collaboration for Scaling Up” framework, enabling more people to benefit from high-definition visual experiences.

Advancing Technological Accessibility: Director Chen Xiaobei Contributes Insights for Industry Development
