0769-22660023 As the college entrance examination draws to a successful close, the summer myopia correction season kicks off! On the first day of the exam, the Refractive Surgery Department of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital saw an initial surge in patients seeking myopia correction. College entrance examination
candidates accounted for over two-thirds of all pre-operative check-up visitors. On that day, we added extra surgery sessions, and more than ten candidates successfully got rid of their glasses, embarking on a life with clear vision.

Many students plan to undergo myopia correction to meet the requirements for major selection and future career development. To help senior high school graduates receive scientific myopia correction, Director Chen Xiaobei, member of the Refractive Surgery Academic Committee under the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Association of Non-Public Medical Institutions and a senior refractive surgery specialist, was invited to More Joy with Music, a flagship program of Dongguan Radio. She delivered a complete solution and professional guidance on myopia correction for exam graduates.

Besides sharing practical tips, Director Chen announced a major benefit for all young graduates. To deliver more efficient and high-quality medical services for nearsighted patients, Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital has officially launched a special green channel for college entrance examination candidates and fully upgraded its comprehensive myopia surgery solutions. The hospital now offers all three globally mainstream advanced refractive procedures, including the new-generation robotic SMILE Pro, Full Refractive Sculpting and EVO+ICL (V5). We fully support students to undergo safe and scientific myopia correction.
Combining nearly 20 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology during the radio interview, Director Chen answered common questions about myopia correction for graduates, such as optimal surgery timing, eligibility criteria and procedure selection. Let’s take a look at her practical advice for students.
"The long summer vacation after the exam is an ideal time for surgery. Candidates may arrange their procedures based on personal conditions and doctors’ advice," Director Chen reminded. Senior three students usually suffer from severe eye strain due to long hours of intense eye use. Sufficient rest and regular sleep are essential before check-ups to ensure accurate test results.
For students applying for vision-restricted majors such as police academies, public security programs and nautical technology, Director Chen strongly advised: get eye examinations and book surgery as early as possible to reserve ample recovery time. Myopia surgery is not suitable for everyone. A complete pre-operative check can detect potential eye problems and assess surgical feasibility. Never rush into surgery right before physical examinations, as insufficient recovery time may ruin your chance of getting into your dream college.
There are several basic requirements for myopia surgery. First, applicants are generally required to be at least 18 years old. For those with urgent physical examination schedules, the age limit can be flexibly adjusted based on pre-operative results. Second, diopter changes should remain stable for the past two years. In addition, patients with retinal holes, severe dry eye or other eye issues need to receive targeted treatment prior to surgery.
1 week for regular soft contact lenses
3 weeks for toric soft contact lenses
3 to 4 weeks for rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP)
More than 3 months for orthokeratology lenses
This ensures authentic and reliable examination data. On the check-up day, avoid eye makeup, perfume, hairspray and other aerosol products. Have a good sleep the night before, and bring sunglasses to relieve discomfort caused by mydriasis.
Eye conditions and correction needs vary from person to person. Choosing a qualified medical institution with a full range of mature surgical techniques is the key to a tailored treatment plan. Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital has introduced the world’s three leading advanced refractive technologies to meet diverse demands:

When it comes to procedure selection, Director Chen noted that each technology has its unique strengths. Students do not need to make blind choices. After a full set of pre-operative examinations, doctors will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on your eye indicators and correction goals, and work out a one-on-one personalized surgical plan.
