From April 11th to 14th, the International Ophthalmology Conference and the International Conference on Optometry (COOC 2024) were held in Shanghai, as an annual ophthalmology industry event, which gathered well-known experts, scholars, professors, and technical backbones at home and abroad to showcase the new clinical progress of ophthalmology and visual science at home and abroad, and conduct in-depth discussions and explorations on the hot spots, difficulties and future trends in the development of ophthalmology.

Chen Xiaobei, a global certified expert in ICL/full femtosecond/excimer laser surgery and director of the refractive department of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, was invited to attend the meeting and share her years of research experience and achievements in her professional field at the STAAR Surgical booth and the refractive surgery youth forum, showing Aier's academic style.

Director Chen Xiaobei shared the topic of "Experience Sharing in the Design of Surgery for Moderate and Low Myopia" at the STAAR Surgical booth, discussing the changes in the refractive effect and visual quality after ICL implantation to correct moderate and low myopia, which was better than that of preoperative glasses, and affirmed the surgical safety, effectiveness, stability and predictability of ICL for refractive correction in people with moderate and low myopia.

From the aspects of selecting suitable patients, personalized hand refractive surgery design, and fine perioperative management and implementation process, Director Chen Xiaobei elaborated on the experience of Dongguan Aier Refractive Department in carrying out high-quality ICL implantation. As the earliest eye hospital in Dongguan to carry out ICL surgery, the number of ICL lens implantation surgeries in Dongguan has exceeded 7,000 so far.

Based on her own experience, Director Chen Xiaobei pointed out that the ICL correction of moderate and low myopia is no longer the "candidate" choice of the past, and is a preferred option for patients with total myopia with its advantages of "ultra-wide correction range (myopia degree 50-1800 degrees)".
